Hey Panda Family,

We are officially halfway through the school year! 🙌 Our students are making tremendous growth socially, behaviorally, and academically and that is all because of your hard work. It takes a true team effort and we have the best team around 🐼 Also, thank you to everyone for the thoughtful birthday wishes this past week. You and the kids made my birthday super special!

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

iReady Certificates: Review these tips and tools for celebrating progress toward Typical and Stretch growth, and share these certificates with teachers so they can recognize students.

IEP Minutes: Here is a new link for the IEP minutes template. Please remember to bring your computer to IEP meetings.

February Drills: We only have a fire drill.  It will be unannounced.

Updates from Previous Week

2nd Quarter Report Cards: Report Cards for 2nd Quarter are due to Ms. True by Friday, February 2.

Chronic Absences: Ms. Watkins and Ms. Ceglowski have done an amazing job this year calling and communicating with parents of students that are chronically absent. It is our goal to help however we can to get our students to school each day. If you ever have a student that you are concerned about their excessive absences, please don't hesitate to send their name to Benita or Jess.

Staff Challenge for January/February (Optional): If you would like to participate, your grade level or department will come up with a theme to decorate their doors by February 16. The more creative theme the better! Judging will occur on February 16 and the winning grade level/department will be announced at the next staff meeting (and they will win a prize).

Recycling Program at PGE: As discussed at our staff meeting, PGE will be working to educate our students on recycling and practicing recycling here at school. Our district provided each teacher with a new poster, stickers, and links to educate students on how and what to recycle.  We will attempt recycling bins by fountains, cafeteria, and hallways.

We want to emphasize: please make sure to rinse out cans and plastic bottles before recycling.
We also found this in a magazine with free videos and activity lessons for grade levels.

Panorama Results: Thank you to everyone who participated in our Fall Panorama Survey! SIT will use these results to continue to improve and make our school the best place to work and learn in the district! See the links below for full results.

Dojo Attendance Blurb: One of our School Improvement goals for this year is to increase our overall school attendance. One action step towards this goal is to check in with parents via Dojo each day a student in your class is absent. Feel free to use the example message below that SIT created. We hope by having teachers touch base with families when a child is absent it will let them know how much we miss them and also create an opportunity for the parent to let us know why their child is out. Here is the Dojo template below. Feel free to use this one or one of your choice.

We missed ________________ today.  Hope to see them tomorrow!  Let us know if you need anything. Please make sure you send a handwritten note for today’s absence. Thank you!

Week of 1/15 - 1/19

Hey Panda Family,

We are coming to a close on 2nd Quarter! This is a busy time of the year managing all the things on the to-do list. I totally get it! Short week coming up and some much needed workdays. This is a longer Weekly Wrap. Please take time to read over all the updates. Thanks and have a great weekend! 🐼

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

January 24: Wednesday, January 24 is the end of the quarter. As you will see in the Weekly Wrap below we have the Little Theater coming this day and we have also scheduled our big iReady prizes this day. It will just be a fun and busy day. Please keep this in mind as you make your plans for next Wednesday.

iReady Prizes: Initial iReady results indicate that all classes will earn at least 3 stickers on their iReady Prize Card (I know we still have some make-ups, but please go ahead and give your class a sticker for everyone taking it). The Video Game Truck & Fairy Hair will take place on Wednesday, January 24. Before we finalize these schedules we need to know which students want to do the Video Game Truck and which students want to get Fairy Hair. Please ask your students on Monday and then complete the form linked below by the end of the day on Monday. Thank you!

Staff Attendance Sheets: Next week you will get your personal attendance sheet for the last twelve months. It will be placed in your box. I keep these sheets to track everyone's attendance throughout the year. It is also a way for me to be proactive and conference with any individuals that have high numbers so we can make a plan so district HR doesn't get involved. When you get your sheet please review it to make sure I haven't made a mistake and it is accurate. If you see any mistakes, please just let me know. If your "Sick Leave" & "No Pay" column adds up to more than 9 days then I will be scheduling a time for us to meet. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

2nd Quarter Report Cards: Report Cards for 2nd Quarter are due to Ms. True by Friday, February 2.

January 25 PD Workday: Here is the list of Professional Development sessions for the January 25 district PD day. Please make sure you attend one session of your choice (sign up in Kickup). All employees are required to work on PD days or take leave. Staff must attend PD or work from school on PD days. Teleworking is not an option on these days. Please reach out if you have any questions. Thanks!

Imprints for Staff Children: As discussed this past week in the staff meeting, if any staff member (that has a child in K-5 at PGE) has a meeting before or after school and they need help with childcare - they may utilize Imprints for free. If possible, please let Caressa Vance (site-supervisor) know in advance. This free service is not for daily service, only in case of a meeting. If you need daily childcare needs through Imprints, as a staff member you can sign your child up at a reduced rate.

Panorama Results: Thank you to everyone who participated in our Fall Panorama Survey! SIT will use these results to continue to improve and make our school the best place to work and learn in the district! See the graphics and links below for full results.

Coloring Fun: In the Staff Lounge (where vending machines are) there is an adult coloring page with a big panda. When you stop by take a second to add some color. Feel free to also add to the pen collection to add more colors. When it is all done we plan to laminate it and display it in the building!

Sympathy Cards for Teresa Sweeney: Teresa Sweeney, former PGE teacher, has recently suffered the loss of her daughter, Sarah. Rather than us all sign one card to share our love and support as she journeys through this, we ask that you consider that we fill up her mailbox by each signing a card to send to her. Ms. True has a basket of sympathy cards in her office that you may choose from, and we will supply the stamps for each. Please consider joining us as we reach out while still giving her space to grieve.
