Hey Panda Family,
Digital Learning Credits (from district): There have been updates to NC State Policy LICN-005 around the requirements for renewal and Continuing Education Units. Licensure renewal for Teachers in Prek-12, Administrators, and Student Services Personnel no longer require Digital Learning

Career Day: Please mark your calendar for Career Day on Friday, March 1. As we get closer we will share the schedule. Each grade level will have 30 minutes to visit the different careers and professionals in the gym this day. More info to come.
Remaining iReady Prizes: All homeroom teachers will determine when they want their class to have extra recess. Classes that received four stickers, Mr. Elkins will be sending you an email this week to explain the mystery prize for students & the teacher prize.
PD Catalog for 2nd Semester: Please review the Second Semester Professional Learning Catalog for Professional Learning sessions offered during the second semester.
iReady Certificates: Review these tips and tools for celebrating progress toward Typical and Stretch growth, and share these certificates with teachers so they can recognize students.
- Please ensure your back door is not blocked (5-6 floor squares).
- Extra desks in the hallway should be brought into a classroom until after the inspection.
- Please ensure nothing is hanging from the ceiling or from the front of your door.
Staff Challenge for January/February (Optional): If you would like to participate, your grade level or department will come up with a theme to decorate their doors by February 16. The more creative theme the better! Judging will occur on February 16 and the winning grade level/department will be announced at the next staff meeting (and they will win a prize).
Recycling Program at PGE: As discussed at our staff meeting, PGE will be working to educate our students on recycling and practicing recycling here at school. Our district provided each teacher with a new poster, stickers, and links to educate students on how and what to recycle. We will attempt recycling bins by fountains, cafeteria, and hallways.
Dojo Attendance Blurb: One of our School Improvement goals for this year is to increase our overall school attendance. One action step towards this goal is to check in with parents via Dojo each day a student in your class is absent. Feel free to use the example message below that SIT created. We hope by having teachers touch base with families when a child is absent it will let them know how much we miss them and also create an opportunity for the parent to let us know why their child is out. Here is the Dojo template below. Feel free to use this one or one of your choice.
We missed ________________ today. Hope to see them tomorrow! Let us know if you need anything. Please make sure you send a handwritten note for today’s absence. Thank you!
