Week of June 10 - 14

Hey Panda Family,

This is the last Weekly Wrap for the year! Congratulations, you made it! Thank you SO much for a wonderful school year. We wish you a wonderful summer break filled with rest, relaxation, and lots of fun. See you in August! 💚🐼

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

Archive Class on Dojo: Please make sure you Archive your class on Class Dojo. This needs to occur at the end of each school year. There is an image below with directions on how to archive your class. Here is the reasoning for archiving from Class Dojo:

Instead of deleting classes, we use an archival system. When a teacher is done with a class or no longer needs to see it on their homepage, they can “Archive” the class. This hides the points and messaging channels for that class from the parents connected to the class, however, the story history for the class and Portfolios posts will remain in the parents' and students' accounts. The students in that class remain in the School Directory so that other teachers in your school will then be able to add them (and their parent connections) from the Directory to their new class.

PD Code for PLTs (K-5 teachers): Here is the PLT code for 4th Quarter - EGUK5X. Log in to Kickup, select Confirm Attendance, and copy/paste code.

EOY Data Review: Check out our End-of-Year data results in this presentation - Piney Grove EOY Data Review. It takes an amazing village and team effort to get these results. Great work!

Week of June 3 - 7

Hey Panda Family,

Another year in the books...almost! Some of our students will be back to remediate and retest next week. We don't anticipate a lot of students, but keep this phrase in mind next week - "Many hands make light work." The schedule for next week is below. We tried real hard to make it as fair and balanced as possible. It should be very manageable, but please make sure to help each other out. I know the last week of school can be stressful, but we made it! I am so proud of your hard work and dedication this year. If you need any help completing the items on your end-of-year checklist, you know where to find us. Just reach out! Have a wonderful weekend! 😊

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

Remediation & Retesting (from Ms. Lloyd): Next week is our Remediation and Retesting.

K-2:  here are the assignments for you: Retest - Duty Roster

Classified/Specialists: I might need you to test on Tuesday or Wednesday.... Depending on who shows up on Monday.  Thank you to those who volunteered to help test on Tuesday and Wednesday.

3-5:  I will need each of you for 1 day! Either for remediation or for testing on Tuesday or Wednesday.  Of course this hinges on who will show up on Monday.

Here are the list of students who might be coming (check mark for those who confirmed yes) :2024 RETEST potential students

Here is the Remediation Plan that is a work in Progress : 3-5 Remediation Plan

I am working on the Testing Schedule and will send that out on Monday.

Thank you to everyone for your patience as we work through this ever changing schedule!
I appreciate your willingness to help get it all done!

Bowling Coupons: Please make sure the bowling coupons go home in the report cards. All students should receive one. Thank you!

Shoutout: We received a phone call yesterday from Lierre and Holly Bloch's grandfather about Mary Beth Flynn.  He wanted us to know how helpful and kind she was when he had a dead battery in the car rider line last week.  She helped direct traffic around them and brought the kids water and snacks while they waited. Wat to go, Ms. Flynn! Thank you so much for helping them!

Updates from Previous Week

End-of-Year Checklists: Your end-of-year checklist is in your box. There is also an electronic copy linked here - PGE End-of-Year Checklist. You do not need to turn this in before you leave for summer, but please make sure everything is completed. The district is requiring Certified Staff to complete an end-of-year checklist survey before they leave for the summer. All Certified Staff must complete this before leaving for summer break. The link to the survey is here - WS/FCS End-of-Year Checklist Survey

Student Medication (from Nurse Caroline): My name is Caroline Dillard, I am a school nurse and I have taken over for Rebecca Pearman while she is out on leave. I want to make all teachers aware that letters have been sent home to all of the students who have medications at school.  If you have medications for students in your classrooms, please make sure they are available for parents to come pick up during the last week of school.  If medications have not been picked up by the last day of school, please let me know and I will call parents as a final reminder. My email is cmdillard@wsfcs.k12.nc.us.

4th Quarter Grades: Please make sure you get your final grades for the quarter in your gradebook. Report cards are due to Ms. True by June 12.

August 5th: We will have our opening staff meeting for next school year on Monday, August 5 @ 8:00. Please mark your calendar.

August 1st & 2nd: August 1st & 2nd are the first Teacher Workdays for next school year. If you will be out on either of these days, please make sure you complete a white leave sheet and turn it in to Ms. Owens. Thank you!

Supply List: To offset some of our costs next school year we will be adding copy paper and Band-Aids to the back-to-school supply list. If your grade level needs to make adjustments to the supply list, please discuss and let your grade level SIT rep know. The grade level SIT reps have editing rights to the supply list document. The document for next year can be found here - 2024-2025 PGE Supply List
