Week 7 is in the books! Great work getting your Progress Reports to your families and updating grades in PowerSchool Gradebook. It is my goal to get all updates to you as quick as I can as we move closer to our Plan B reopening. Here are the updates from this week!
Staff Meeting: We will have a specially called staff meeting on Monday, October 5 @ 3:30 to discuss reopening for Plan B. Here is the link for the meeting: Zoom Staff Meeting 10-5-2020
Staff Meeting Q & A: We have created a Google doc for you to drop your questions. I have already started answering some of them. Here is the Google doc if you would like to add any questions before tomorrow's meeting: Plan B Staff Meeting Q & A
Panda Engagement Survey: One of our School Improvement Plan goals is to help increase our student engagement and work completion during Remote Learning through the help of you and our CARES Team. Homeroom teachers, please complete the short survey to help us gather some important information to better help you and your students - Panda Engagement Survey
Staff Lounge:We are getting ready to reopen and need everything neat and tidy, so please do not put items in the lounge that you no longer want. The stuff that is piled up in the corner near the front door will be taken to the trash on Monday.

Covid Coordinator: Each school is required to designate an individual on staff to oversee our Holding Room when students return. The Holding Room will be located in the pod and students that show signs/symptoms of Covid will wait there until their parents can come get them (increased temperature, loss of smell, etc.). Our Covid Coordinator will be Ms. Bolchalk. Thank you, Ms. Bolchalk for taking on this leadership role. More details to come on protocols and procedures for the Holding Room in the coming weeks.
Observations:First round of observations will begin soon for some individuals. Since Remote Learning is still new to us, Mr. Elkins and Mrs. Gardner will send an email asking for two days and times that work within your schedule. We will pick one of the times that you provide. Observations will still be in the NCEES system. Written feedback will be like last year. We will have post conferences either through Zoom or in-person. You have nothing to be nervous about.
Staffing Update: Ms. Ashley Bowman will be joining us as our new 3-5 EC Resource teacher. Ms. Bowman comes to us from Union Cross where she had multiple years of experience in their EC department. Welcome to the Panda family, Ms. Bowman! We are excited to have you!
PTA: Our fabulous PTA has restocked our snack bar in the teacher lounge! Also, don't forget about your PTA allowance that can be used for anything in your classroom!
Classroom Walkthroughs: CWTs began this past week. We love what we are seeing! Y'all are doing an amazing job in the virtual world :) After we complete the walkthrough, our responses will come to your email just like in the past. Please understand, this is only to help you grow as an instructional leader in your classroom. Even in the remote setting we must forge ahead with our normal feedback measures. We look forward to popping in to your classrooms to see the amazing instruction that is happening!
October Drills: We will have 3 drills in October: Fire, Earthquake, and Tornado. Remember, if you are in the building you must participate in the drill. Please keep your mask on and social distance. Drills will be held October 9th @ 7:30, weather permitting.
Positive Communication Form: Thank you to those who have already shared their Positive Communication Form with me. If you haven't shared your completed form yet, please do so at your earliest convenience. Thanks!
Technology in the Classrooms: The district technology department has begun upgrading/adding some devices in our classrooms to help with instruction as we prepare for Plan B in-person learning. When we get details on training for the technology we will share it with you.
Packet Materials: I encourage each of you to continue sending out tangible packet materials for your students as needed (novels, worksheets, manipulatives, etc.). Please coordinate the pickup with your families. Every parent that I have talked with mentions how helpful it is to have a combination of tangible and virtual assignments. If the office can support you with this please let us know.
