It's the final countdown! 5 days to go and loads of fun to have next week celebrating the end of the year. The Superintendent and her team are coming on Monday! Let's give her a warm welcome and show her team why Piney Grove is the best! πŸΌπŸ’š

New Updates

June 5: Superintendent McManus and her Executive Cabinet are planning to come visit Piney Grove on Monday, June 5! They will be here for morning arrival and then plan to hold their monthly meeting in our Media Center. Please make sure to give them a warm welcome when you see them. Thanks! 


Staff End of Year Celebration: Friendly reminder that our staff end of year celebration will be at Gypsy Road Brewing Company this Monday, June 5 @ 6:00 for all who have signed up and paid. 


Required Trauma Videos (due June 30): The district is requiring all principals, assistant principals, counselors, social workers, school psychologists, nurses, and K-12 teachers to watch two training videos to help build a trauma-resilient community. These videos are due by June 30 for these select staff members. I have known about these videos for a few weeks, but I waited until now to share with you because I didn't want to burden you with these until after testing was finished. June 9th Rewards: On Friday, June 9 we will have inflatable games for the kids (and staff) to play, Boosterthon will be here DJing music, and the classes that earned the iReady rewards will get the foam pit and cotton candy. All of the events will be held out back. I will be sharing more details next week but here is the schedule for your planning purposes:

9:00 - 9:45 - 3rd Grade
10:00 - 10:45 - 4th Grade
11:00 - 11:45 - 5th Grade
12:00 - 12:45 - Kinder
1:00 - 1:45 - 1st Grade
2:00 - 2:45 - 2nd Grade


EOY Copies: All of your iReady & Mclass color copies are in your box. You should have multiple copies of each. One copy goes in the report card and one copy goes in the cumulative folder. If I missed anything and you need additional copies made please just email Mr. Elkins. 


Creating Rosters: We will create rosters for next year on June 5, 6, and 7.  Please see the schedule below. THANK YOU to everyone who is helping to cover classes. Here is the schedule - Creating Class Rosters for 2023-24Please look over to see if you are covering or when your time is to create class rosters. If you have any questions please see Elkins or Gardner. 


Free Bowling: In your box are free bowling coupons for your students. Please make sure you place them in their report cards. Thanks! 


PBIS Information: Please see updates below.
  • The paw store has been temporarily relocated due to the construction going on to Mobile 273. It is in the POD, room 601. 
  • Our last event for the year will be the Paw Store on June 5 and 6. Please check the schedule (click here) to find your time.

Media Updates (from Ms. Epperley): Here are the updates from Ms. Epperley in the Media Center.
  • 2-5 Bring Chromebooks 
  • K-2 All Chromebooks will be checked out to the teacher at the end of the year and packed up to remain in the classroom.
  • 3-5 All take-home students will be taking their Chromebook, case and charger HOME for the summer. Day users will be turned in to the media center.
  • Thank you for continuing to encourage your students to return library books! Student library book turn in day was May 25. 

Shout-outs: Huge shout-out to everyone (and our volunteers) for working together to make our EOG testing successful! We are seeing some tremendous growth! Great job, Pandas & awesome job, Ms. Lloyd!

Certificates for Awards Day: If you have any certificates or awards that you would like printed for Awards Day, please send those to Ms. Owens as soon as possible. She will help orchestrate getting those printed for you. 


End-of-Year Packet: Here is an electronic copy of the End-of-Year packet - EOY Staff Checklist 2022-2023 If all staff would please look over it and complete the items that pertain to you. We will also place a hard copy in your box at the beginning of next week. 


EOG Dates: Please mark the following EOG Testing dates on your calendar. Detailed schedules and further information will come at a later time. Reach out to Ms. Lloyd with any questions.

Celebration Dates & Times: Here are the end of year grade level celebration dates and times. Feel free to share with your parents. 
  • Monday, June 5 @ 11:30 - 2nd Grade

  • Tuesday, June 6 @ 11:30 - Kindergarten
  • Wednesday, June 7 @ 10:00 - 3rd Grade

K-2 Math Summative Assessments: Window is May 19 to June 9
  • Gardner will give out materials when they arrive 
  • Administer this the same way as we did for MOY (No high stakes testing)
  • Students' individual score sheets should be filed in the math folder in the cumulative folder 

LETRS: All certified staff members must work three workdays on June 12 - 14 (or take leave). June 14 is the last contracted day for certified employees. If your LETRS training is on June 15 then you can trade out one of the workdays between June 12 - 14 since you are having to complete training on June 15. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Elkins. 


EOY MTSS Updates (from Ms. Balint): Please see the EOY MTSS updates below from MTSS.
  • make sure all progress monitoring points have been updated in ECATS (make sure to click "save scores")
  • please compile a blue folder (if you need a blue folder- please let me know) for each student with a Tier 2 or Tier 3 plan (create a document in ECATS, include progress monitoring sheet, intervention sheets, end point of the intervention)
  • K-3 teachers- please print off the Core Plan for any students that were red and yellow in mClass. You will need to create a blue folder for those students and then place the folder in the cum along with progress monitoring relating to goal 
  • Last day for intervention is May 25th

Inchy Book Vending Machine: All staff have the opportunity to pass out a Vending Machine coin to a student that is going above and beyond. When you have passed out your coin, please record it on this spreadsheet. Please make sure you record the student's name under their homeroom teacher. Thanks!  - Book Token Staff Spreadsheet


Blocked Days: May 30 - June 9 will be blocked days due to EOG testing. I will not be able to approve any Personal Days during this time. We will need all hands on deck. If you have already reached out to me about needing time off during these weeks due to specific obligations, then you are good. If an emergency occurs, please just come talk with me and we will try and work something out.
