Week of 11/29 - 12/3

Hey Panda Family,

Santa Claus came to town this past week! 🎅 We were also blessed with an amazing chorus concert by select 4th & 5th grade students. It was a beautiful performance. Great work, Ms. Staley! I will be out at the beginning of this week at a Leadership Conference. Don't have too much fun without me! When I get back we will begin to have some fun events and activities to ring in the holiday season - more info to come! 🎄🔔

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

Morning Arrival Adjustments: Starting January 5th, students will stay in the gym until the 8:05 bell, and students will eat breakfast in the cafeteria. We are returning back to how we handled arrival before Covid. The first few days will take some time to retrain our students, but we hope this will help alleviate the excess trash in the halls during morning arrival while also giving you back some planning time at the beginning of the day. Please see Master schedule (linked) for adjustments to AM duties.

Progress Reports: Progress reports are due this week. Please make sure grades are updated in PowerSchool. K-2 will be discussing progress reports in PLTs this week to be prepared to print the new reports from PowerSchool.

Perfect Attendance: This week Ms. Gardner will be coming by your room to pass out prizes for your students who earned perfect attendance in 1st Quarter. Each child that had perfect attendance will get a free meal coupon from Chick-fil-A. Please help to make sure these get home safely. Thank you! We also have prizes coming soon for our staff members who had perfect attendance in 1st Quarter too!

Winter Wonderland (from PTA): We are excited to announce that we will be hosting "Piney's Winter Wonderland Party" for all the students on Friday, December 10th! They will get to experience everything during their recess time.  What you can expect...a full on winter wonderland experience on the blacktop with lots of beautiful decorations, hot cocoa, treats, music, class photo ops, & even a special guest appearance!! We want you all to enjoy the party as well, so we will have plenty of volunteers to help out. Just come and enjoy the experience with your kiddos. If you have students in your class with food allergies, please send me an email with that list so we can make sure we have something for everyone. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you at the party!
Jill

Update from Mr. V (from Mr. V): Just wanted to give you a status on my surgery. It was scheduled for this coming Monday, but after investigating alternative radiological procedures that are far less invasive, involve an outpatient procedure versus a six to eight hour surgery followed by an eight to ten week recovery, and will not completely destroy my hearing in that ear, I’ve decided to pursue the radiology option. It's been an incredibly difficult journey of ups and downs (mostly downs) since the original diagnosis in March, so I am feeling hopeful that this procedure will be a success. Thank you to everyone for their positive thoughts, prayers, and support. Whatever you've been doing in your own way to help me, keep it up! Thank you!!!

Counseling Updates: Please see the following updates from Ms. Ceglowski.

  • CARES team meets this Thursday.  Please send concerns and requests to Mrs. Ceglowski.
  • It's the holiday season which means an increase in counseling requests from families, teachers, and students.  Please email/text me and remind me of any student needs as the days are starting to get away from me!  Thanks!
  • Please share any good deeds done by your students for the Wonderful Works segment on the news.  Also, we really need some good jokes!  Thanks for your help!

Recycle Bins: Please make sure students are only placing plastic and aluminum items in the clear recycling bins. The green recycling bins are for paper. Thank you!

LETRS Trainings: At my most recent principal's meeting they stated that they plan to open up registration for the next round of LETRS trainings sometime this week (I don't know the exact date - sorry). May be something you want to keep an eye on.

Morning Announcements: Ms. Ceglowski will email out the links for the Morning Announcements.

Staff Spotlight: From Ms. Rempe - Big thanks to Sonya for assisting my student after dropping their lunch :)

Shout out to Ms. Staley for another amazing choral concert! Great work helping us bring in the holiday cheer through music!

Items from Previous Weeks

LETRS Support: In an effort to provide certified teachers some time during their work hours to complete their LETRS coursework, we are going to creatively utilize Ms. Lloyd. All certified teachers that have to complete LETRS may sign up for one 1/2 day on Ms. Lloyd's schedule to work on their LETRS coursework. This is how it will work:

  • Pull up Ms. Lloyd's schedule here - Ms. Lloyd's Schedule
  • Pick one 1/2 day that is available between now and Winter Break
  • Write your name and LETRS in the box - i.e. "Cox LETRS"
  • Ms. Lloyd will cover your class for the 1/2 day that you sign up
  • On your day, you will stay on campus and find a quiet space to work on your LETRS coursework
    • Teacher workroom, Teacher lounge, etc.
  • If a Covid situation occurs and Ms. Lloyd must cancel, you will be able to pick another date and time
  • This is optional, and is not required

We plan to see how this goes between now and Winter Break. If it goes smoothly, then we will consider offering it again for the spring semester. We hope this helps some!
