Week of 3/28 - 4/1

Hey Panda Family,

The countdown to Spring Break is here! 5 more days and then we will all get a much needed vacation to recharge, relax, and recuperate in preparation for the end of the school year. I am so proud of the WHOLE body of work you and your students have produced to this point! "The best view comes after the hardest climb" - Anonymous. 🌄

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

Ms. Murray: Please keep Ms. Murray and her husband in your thoughts and prayers. Her husband has been diagnosed with leukemia and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Internet Survey: Have you lost internet connection on your computer at school recently? Is your internet working fine one minute and then goes out? We are trying to get to the bottom of this. Please complete this survey to let us know - Internet Connectivity Survey

LETRS Stipend Update: LETRS training has required many hours for our elementary teachers. We are pleased to share the total stipend amount has been increased from $750 to $1,500 before taxes. The LETRS stipend will be dispersed to those who have successfully completed units in two payments. The first stipend payment will be May 31st. This will be a separate check from the regular paycheck for Units 1-3. Whatever participants have successfully completed for Units 1-3 by April 30th will be submitted toward the first stipend payment. The purpose of making a payment in May for part of the stipend is so teachers will hopefully receive as much as they can without extra taxes. The second stipend payment for Unit 4, as well as any other pending work from Units 1-3 that has been completed, will be submitted in mid-July to be paid on August 31st.

Successful completion of Units 1-4 LETRS is determined by the following:

  • Online course work completed for Units 1-4
  • Unit score average of a minimum of 60% (Please note the state defines success at 80%).
  • Attends live virtual sessions for each unit (Must be registered in Kick-up with confirmed attendance)

Should any of the following not be met then the amount of the stipend will be modified to appropriately reflect the missing components. Each unit completion (online and live professional learning) is approximately $375 of the total $1,500 stipend.  See the prorated stipend pay below:

1 unit- $375.00

2 units- $750.00

3 units- $1,125.00

           4 units- $1,500.00

Items From Previous Weeks

LETRS/Mental Health Trainings Coverage: In an effort to help provide certified staff with some extra time to complete the required district/state trainings we are going to offer Ms. Lloyd's assistance again for the spring semester. All certified teachers that have to complete LETRS/Mental Health Trainings may sign up for one 1/2 day on Ms. Lloyd's schedule to work on their coursework. This is how it will work:

  • Pull up Ms. Lloyd's schedule here - Ms. Lloyd's Schedule
  • Pick one 1/2 day that is available between now and the end of school
  • Write your name and Trainings in the box - i.e. "Cox Trainings"
  • Ms. Lloyd will cover your class for the 1/2 day that you sign up
  • On your day, you will stay on campus and find a quiet space to work on your coursework
    • Teacher workroom, Teacher lounge, etc.
  • If a Covid/Emergency Sub situation occurs and Ms. Lloyd must cancel, you will be able to pick another date and time
  • This is optional, and is not required

Field Trip Fund: Please see below for information regarding field trip funds that have been provided to each school from the district.

  • We have an ESSER Field Trips allocation available this school year and next to support learning recovery efforts.  We have roughly $10,000 to spend between this year and next year.
  • Each grade level has about $1,600 to spend.
  • Certain field trips have already been approved by the district for these funds (see Gardner for specifics on if your field trip would meet requirements)
Please remember that on and off campus field trips must:
  • be standards aligned that either build background knowledge and/or allow students to participate in culminating learning experiences,
  • meet federal requirements of reasonable and necessary, and
  • include all students (no exclusions for behavior, missing assignments, etc.)
  • When you want to use this specific pot of money, please indicate it on your request.
