Week of 4/18 - 4/22

Hey Panda Family,

I hope you had a wonderful week back with your students! Ms. Ceglowski shared the picture statement below with me this week, and it is so true. We all still have time to make a lasting influence on this group of students. Make every minute count. Thanks for all you do! 🐼

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

Janet Sherrill: Over Spring Break, Ms. Sherrill had a unfortunate misstep and broke her ankle in multiple places. She had successful surgery this week to repair the damage. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers.

Testing Information: Here is a link to the Testing Information presentation from this past week's staff meeting. Reach out to Ms. Gardner if you have any questions regarding testing. PGE Testing Information 2021-2022

Grade Level Awards Celebrations Dates/Times: A concern was brought to us from SCC about having grade levels sign up for time slots on a first come first serve. We will talk through this concern with SCC this week and come up with a solution on the best approach to assigning time slots. We will have an update in next week's Weekly Wrap. Thank you for your patience.

SEL Presentation: Here are links to the SEL presentations from this week's staff meeting.

Ms. Keller Baby Sprinkle: Please join us in celebrating Ms. Keller and baby Karsyn Mae on Tuesday, May 17 @ 3:30 in the Media Center. Please click on the following presentation to see full details and links to her registries - Ms. Keller Baby Sprinkle

PLTs: We will have regularly scheduled PLTs this week.

LETRS: May 3rd at 4:00 - open registration in KickUp for the June training sessions.

PBIS Face Painting (from PBIS): We're looking forward to our next event on Friday, April 29! We have parent volunteers who will be coming to classrooms to get students to paint their faces (which they'll do in the hallway near your classroom). We apologize for this disruption but hope it will be minimal. Here is the schedule: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-8ciLwSsc38I4P9T62o0eBnWf4iI6e2OmIoJ9EXKCbQ/edit?usp=sharing

Keep in mind that all times are approximate. We will encourage volunteers to pull students from one class at a time, but scheduled them in blocks.
On Monday, please send the following message to the parents of your students who will be participating in the face painting event on Friday: Your child has chosen to participate in our PBIS face painting event this Friday, April 29. A parent volunteer will paint a simple design on one or both of your child’s cheeks. If you DO NOT want your child to participate, please respond to this message to let me know. Thank you. If a parent declines permission then refund that student's Paw Bucks. (You do not need to communicate the name, just don't send them to get their face painted that day.) Thanks!

PTA Allowances: Please make sure you take advantage of the PTA allowance that is given to each classroom staff member. In going over the budget report at the last PTA meeting, the majority of the money in this budget line is still waiting to be spent. If you would like to know how much money you still have available to spend on your classroom please email Christina Hurley, PTA Treasurer. Here is her email -  christina_l_hurley@yahoo.com

End-of-Year PDP/Summative Conferences (Certified Staff): Beginning this week you will be able to sign up for a day/time to meet so we can review your end-of-year PDP as well as your summative evaluationYou should have your PDP completed and all artifacts uploaded before the meeting.  The sign-up sheet will be outside Mr. Elkins' and Ms. Gardner's door. Please sign up with the admin that observes you. (Side note: We understand that some of you still have observations that need to be complete, we are just getting these meetings scheduled. Also, Ms. Gardner would like to have her meetings complete by May 13 so they don't interfere with EOG testing.)

WS/FCS Employees as Volunteers: Going forward, all current employees of WS/FCS do not need to submit a Volunteer Application to serve as a volunteer. All the employee needs to do is have their WS/FCS badge visible when volunteering.

Media Center Updates (from Ms. Epperley): Here are your updates for the week!
  • Wednesday Media classes will be in the classroom due to Kindergarten registration in the library.
  • First Grade will need Chromebooks for media next week.
  • 3-5 classes will need Chromebooks for media next week.
  • Book Fair May 9-13; Family Night May 13

Classified Staff Preference Form: As we plan for next school year, if all Classified Staff could please complete the following form to share their job preferences. Here is the survey for Classified Staff - Classified Staff Preference Form 2022-2023

May Drills: Fire and community lockdown. Please review community lockdown procedures with your students before May 2nd.

Morning Announcements: Ms. Ceglowski will email out the morning announcement links for this week.

Items From Previous Weeks

LETRS/Mental Health Trainings Coverage: In an effort to help provide certified staff with some extra time to complete the required district/state trainings we are going to offer Ms. Lloyd's assistance again for the spring semester. All certified teachers that have to complete LETRS/Mental Health Trainings may sign up for one 1/2 day on Ms. Lloyd's schedule to work on their coursework. This is how it will work:

  • Pull up Ms. Lloyd's schedule here - Ms. Lloyd's Schedule
  • Pick one 1/2 day that is available between now and the end of school
  • Write your name and Trainings in the box - i.e. "Cox Trainings"
  • Ms. Lloyd will cover your class for the 1/2 day that you sign up
  • On your day, you will stay on campus and find a quiet space to work on your coursework
    • Teacher workroom, Teacher lounge, etc.
  • If a Covid/Emergency Sub situation occurs and Ms. Lloyd must cancel, you will be able to pick another date and time
  • This is optional, and is not required

Field Trip Fund: Please see below for information regarding field trip funds that have been provided to each school from the district.

  • We have an ESSER Field Trips allocation available this school year and next to support learning recovery efforts.  We have roughly $10,000 to spend between this year and next year.
  • Each grade level has about $1,600 to spend.
  • Certain field trips have already been approved by the district for these funds (see Gardner for specifics on if your field trip would meet requirements)
Please remember that on and off campus field trips must:
  • be standards aligned that either build background knowledge and/or allow students to participate in culminating learning experiences,
  • meet federal requirements of reasonable and necessary, and
  • include all students (no exclusions for behavior, missing assignments, etc.)
  • When you want to use this specific pot of money, please indicate it on your request.
