One more week to go in 2nd Quarter! Thanks for all your hard work tackling testing these past two weeks. We are about halfway through 🙌 I can't wait to see our kids' growth! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

New Updates
iReady Reading MOY (K-5): Please make sure your students complete the iReady Reading Diagnostic next week (January 23 - 26).
Report Cards: Report Cards are due to Ms. True by the end of the day on Friday, January 27. Just a reminder, January 27 is a workday.
Class Pictures: LifeTouch will be here on Thursday, January 26 for class pictures. Please see the email from Ms. Owens with the schedule.
The Mouse & the Motorcycle Read Aloud: Here are the first two chapters of The Mouse & the Motorcycle. Feel free to show to your students at your leisure.
Winter Luau (from PTA): We are excited to announce that we will be hosting "A Winter Luau" for all the students on Thursday, January 26th! They will get to experience everything during their recess time.
What you can expect...a beautiful luau in the snow on the blacktop with lots of fun decorations, games, hot cocoa, goldfish, Krispy Kreme doughnuts, music, and class photo ops!
We want you all to enjoy the party as well, so we will have plenty of volunteers to help out. Just come and enjoy the experience with your kiddos.
**If you have students in your class with food allergies, please send me an email with that list so we can make sure we have something for everyone. (I know there are also parents who will sometimes send in a special treat for their child. We just want to make sure nobody is left out!)

February 8th Early Release Day: We have decided to not schedule any PD for the ER day afternoon of February 8th so you can schedule some of your mid-year parent conferences. We hope this will help!
MOY Data Color Copies: If you would like any of your MOY data printed in color please email me the PDF and I will print it for you.
Code of Conduct Refresher: Below are the links to the final Code lesson that needs to be taught. Please find time to do this next week.
PBIS Face Painting: Our next big event is face painting on February 17. PTA volunteers will come to rooms that day. Numbers will be due on February 3 to the spreadsheet.
We have decided to make these dress-up days free of charge: Farmer or Fancy (2/3), Decades Day (3/3), and Animal/Animal Print (4/14).

Media Updates (from Ms. Epperley): Here are the updates from Ms. Epperley in the Media Center.
- Looking for a one stop shop, single sign on for your student resources? Come learn about setting up your teacher Clever page with the Tall/Epperley PD Team on Tuesday, January 31 at 3:30 in the media center! You will walk out with a completed Clever page, chocolate, door prizes and CEU's⭐
- 2nd-5th bring Chromebooks to media.
Shout-Outs: From Ms. Fox - Shout-out to Mrs. Lloyd for all the hard work she puts into testing days and helping out this past week with media while Epperley was out. She had an extremely busy week. She is a ROCKSTAR!
Important Items from Last Week
Walkthroughs & Observations: Mr. Elkins and Ms. Gardner have started back with Walkthroughs & Observations. Our goal is to help everyone grow and continue to improve for the betterment of our students. Thanks for all you do!
mClass/DIBELS Invalidations: Please email Gardner with the details - child's name, probe, what happened. Once we get approval to invalidate, Gardner will let the teacher know.
Mid-Year Parent Conferences: All homeroom teachers will complete Mid-Year Parent Conferences for their students. Here are the details:
- Please complete by Feb 28, 2023
- Review MOY data with parents
- May do virtual or in-person
- Will begin retention discussions at this time
- More info to come on retentions
Post Student Work: Please make sure to show off the AMAZING student work your kids have completed in the hallways. When you post their work, please also post the Essential Question that links to the assignment. Thanks!
Buddy Classes (from Ms. Jones & SIT): SIT is planning to bring back Buddy Classes. If you currently have a class you are actively doing Buddy Class with, please let Deana Jones know by Friday, January 20th. (DHJones2@wsfcs.k12.nc.us) Thank you!

Check-In Information (from Ms. Lloyd): We have the NC Check Ins #2 coming up. Here are the dates that we have scheduled:
