Hey Panda Family,
The definition of IMPACT - have a strong effect on someone or something. The "someone" is each student, parent, and colleague we interact with each day. The "something" is the school, the learning, and the growth of our pandas. Keep making a positive IMPACT each day. We love you. Have a wonderful weekend! 💚🐼

Thoughts and Prayers: Please keep Ms. Landreth and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Sharon's brother, Wells "Butch" Turner, passed away this week. Butch lived in California.
Hello Week (from Ms. Ceglowski): September 18-22 is Start With Hello Week. This is an initiative through the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. At the heart of it is an effort to make all students in schools feel included by saying "hello" to everyone, especially those who look lonely. It’s easy to make our school a friendly place to be, just start by saying “HELLO”. This week there will be a different activity every day to help us make every single panda feel included. This should be very low maintenance for teachers and just a simple way to work on keeping a positive school culture. Here is the link to all the activities for Hello Week - Hello Week Schedule
Fall Picture Schedule: Fall pictures are on Monday, September 18, 2023. Ms. Owens emailed out the schedule this week.
SCC Hospitality Dues: Friendly reminder to pay Ms. Mabe $25 for your SCC Hospitality dues. Thank you!
Bus Safety Video: Please make sure your class has viewed the bus safety videos. Once your class has watched them please sign off on the sheet hanging outside Ms. Gardner's office. Here is the link to the video - http://ncbussafety.org/SafetyLessons/index.html
Open House Forms (from Ms. True): Please turn in all Open House forms. Also, if you still have your paper copy of the first 10 day attendance roster, please turn that in as well. Thank you!
Go Far Volunteers (from Ms. Mason): We are looking forward to our Fall GOFAR Run Club starting 9/20 through 11/8 and the 5K Race is 11/11! GOFAR is an afterschool club that meets Mondays & Wednesdays 3:15-4:15, we "Go Out For A Run" and learn about healthy lifestyle choices and character building. Mrs. Kindred and Ms. Mason will be heading up our club this season and we would LOVE if any staff or Parent Volunteers would be willing to participate and help with additional supervision. We do allow younger siblings to attend with their 3rd/4th/5th grade brother or sister as long as a parent/family member is there to supervise.

Buddy Walk (from Ms. Lindley): This year is the 25th Annual Greater Winston-Salem Buddy Walk and Family Fun Day Hosted by the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Winston Salem.
As many of you know, I have a student near and dear to my heart with Down Syndrome. I would love for our entire staff to show her, her family and this entire organization support by registering for the Buddy Walk on October 21 at West Forsyth High School. You can use the code wsfcs to get $10 off your registration. If you are unable to walk but would like to make a donation that would be greatly appreciated also! Second Step SEL Lessons: This year we will be completing the Second Step SEL lessons again. These lessons provide great strategies and skills for the kids to help them process their feelings and responses through a variety of situations. These lessons are a great resource for Morning Meetings. There are 20 total lessons that your class will complete over the course of the school year. Feel free to pace them out as you see fit. We will periodically monitor your progress. Here is the link - https://www.secondstep.org/. Please reach out to Ms. Ceglowski if you have any questions or need help.
Positive Communication Log: Make sure you are filling the buckets of your students and your parents. Please send a positive Dojo, make a positive phone call, or send a Panda Gram for each student by the end of the month. Positive Communication Logs are due to Mr. Elkins by October 1.
Staff Meeting Presentation: Here is the link to the Opening Staff Meeting - Opening Staff Meeting 23-24. Please make sure review all dates and things-to-do before the start of the school year.
