Mr. Elkins' Weekly Wrap: Week of April 21

Hey Panda Family,

Here we go, Pandas! Here we go! 📣 Let's cheer on our students hard these next few weeks as they prepare for their "big game" to show off all they know on test day(s)! Our K-2nd students will complete their Mclass testing next week. I encourage everyone to take some time next week to pop in to at least one K-2nd class to give them some encouraging words and to tell them how great they are going to do! Then we will do the same for our 3rd-5th students in a few weeks before their EOGs. Let's be amazing cheerleaders for all our kids so they have all the confidence to do the best they can! 💚

New Updates

5th Grade Science Check-In: Our final Check-In of the year will take place this upcoming Wednesday, April 30. It is our Science Check-In for 5th grade only.

Senior Walk: Our Senior Walk will take place this upcoming Thursday, May 1 @ 8:30 for any former Piney Grove Pandas that are graduating from high school this year. The high schoolers will walk through the halls while we play graduation ceremony music over the intercom. We will make an announcement over the intercom on Thursday when we are ready to begin so your students can line the hallways and cheer on these high schoolers for this amazing accomplishment.

PBIS Help (from Ms. Jones): Attention PGE staff and parent volunteers! PBIS sponsored a Panda Personalization incentive earlier this month in which students could pay PAW bucks to receive a personalized item with their name on it. This was very well-received by our pandas and we got 342 orders! We have the supplies but could use your help with the manpower to get this project done. Next week we will have a workshop set up in the PGE workroom with all supplies organized, labeled and ready to go for creation and assembly of these personalized water bottles, hairbrushes, mini clipboards and beach balls.

If you can spare any time Tuesday 4/29 or Wednesday 4/30 to help in the workroom, please sign up here. It's organized by hour timeslots but if you can even commit to help a portion of that hour go ahead and sign up. A sincere thank you in advance for your help!

iReady: Thank you for your patience this week with all the technical difficulties with iReady and Clever rosters. I am continuing to work with central office to get this issue resolved. I apologize for this inconvenience. Once we have this resolved I will share the final iReady Math results.

Shoutouts 🎉: From Ms. Brookshire - Shoutout to Ms. Rinfrette! She was outside to see her sweet boy at field day, and I had my second kid start throwing up when we were at our third station for the day. She was so kind to jump right in and offer to take him to the office for me. I had literally just gotten back from getting another sick one up to the office. Field day was FUN for lots, but often folks don't see all that goes into the planning and then the implementation of that plan. I truly appreciate the total team effort to allow it to run so seamlessly. Rinfrette's kindness did not go unnoticed, although I don't think I was even close to able to express my gratitude!

Testing Updates (from Mrs. Lloyd): As discussed in the staff meeting here is the calendar for the last 10 days of school : Last 10 Days of School

Remember for NC TEST Admin, you will need to do the 2 Factor MFA with your phone. PLEASE write down your log on and password on a sticky and keep in a safe place to use for testing.

MTSS Plans Tier 2 and Tier 3: Please see the MTSS updates highlighted below.

ECATS will not house MTSS plans for the 25-26 school year
We will not hold parent meetings for this last round
Teachers will communicate with parents after we hold the meetings
May 5-9 - close out plans and discuss student needs for next year
Tier 2 meetings will be held during PLT's
Tier 3 meetings - Schedule HERE

EOG Days: There will be no Specials on May 13 & May 15 due to EOG testing. We will also be using the majority (if not all) of our Instructional Assistants to help with proctoring on these days. I wanted to let everyone know now so you can properly prepare.

PBIS Events for the Remainder of the Year: The chances for the students to spend their Paw bucks are winding down. Below is a list of the ways students can spend their money in the last 34 days of school.

Book Machine (1 book per student; $100 Paw bucks)

Continue to be positive, monitor the students, and hand out bucks when the students earn them.
