Hey Panda Family,
We hit our goal and beyond!!! We raised $32,000 for our school! Thank you so much for your pep, the energy you brought each day, and your motivation during Boosterthon 🙌 Y'all rock! I can't wait to see the updates PTA does to our playground and outdoor area! Rest and relax this weekend - you deserve it!
Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:
New Updates
Thinking of You: Please keep these staff members in your thoughts and prayers. If I ever leave anyone out, please forgive me and gently let me know. Thank you!
- Ms. Bolchalk - had two siblings pass away in the past month
- Ms. Corlett - recently lost her father-in-law
FCAE Survey (from Ms. Youtz): Teachers and Assistants should have received an "FCAE Survey for Teachers and Teacher Assistants" in your email. It arrived on Monday evening. I spoke with Mr. Elkins and he said that you could fill this out on your own time if you want or there will be time set aside for you to complete the survey at the end of our Early Release day on the 15th. Our goal is to get 100% participation by the end of the early release day on the 15th. If our school reaches 100%, then all the teachers and teacher assistants will be rewarded. Remember that the survey is anonymous and be honest. I already took the survey and the survey took me about 20 minutes to complete. If you have any questions, please let me know. If there are updates about the survey then I will pass them on to you. Thank you for your support and dedication.
MTSS Updates (from Ms. Balint): Please see the MTSS updates below from Ms. Balint.
- make sure to enter data points into ECATS by March 13th
- we will be working on Tier 2 plans in PLTs next week
- refresher for saving data in ECATS - https://drive.google.com/drive/search?q=enter (pg. 17)
- Please let Ms. Balint know if you have any questions
National Board Certification: If you are currently completing, or thinking about completing, National Boards check out this link - National Boards. Contact information is in this link. The district has just started offering financial support for National Boards too. Make sure to reach out to the contacts on the flier if you have any questions.
Women's History Month Resources: In March we celebrate Women's History! Here are some resources if you would like to incorporate them into your instruction (click on Students & Educators) - Women's History Month
LETRS: Just a gentle reminder that you should have completed Unit 6 at this point and working on Unit 7. Please make sure you take advantage of the free half-day with Ms. Pam Mason to make sure you stay on track. I will be checking progress at the end of the quarter. Thanks!
Blocked Days: May 30 - June 9 will be blocked days due to EOG testing. I will not be able to approve any Personal Days during this time. We will need all hands on deck. If you have already reached out to me about needing time off during these weeks due to specific obligations, then you are good. If an emergency occurs, please just come talk with me and we will try and work something out.
PBIS Updates: Here is the schedule for the Panda Chef Challenge on March 24:
8:30-9:00 - K
9:00-9:30 -1
9:30-10:00 - 3
10:00-10:30 - 4
10:30-11:00 - 2
2:15-2:45 - 5
The event will take place in the cafeteria. We will not have Kinder Panda Groups that day. All classes will still eat in the cafeteria.
Sports Day is coming the afternoon of April 28. K-1 students will participate in one station (60 Paw Bucks) while 2-5 students will participate in two stations (125 Paw Bucks).
Paw Bucks (from PBIS Committee): Classroom teachers (with the help of specialists) are supposed to provide students with two opportunities each day to earn Paw Bucks. This may be in the form of paper Paw Bucks or Dojo points.
Other school personnel should consider giving Paw Bucks when they see students who are going above and beyond normal classroom and PAWS expectations.
Students may be given $5 Paw Bucks for being extraordinary. We want to acknowledge those students for doing something amazing, but these should be given rarely.
$10 Paw Bucks should only be used in exchange for smaller bucks so that Paw Store shopping is easier. These are great for our lower grades students to understand the value of numbers, so we will not get rid of them.
Custodial Updates:
- Place your green recycling bin in the hallway at the end of the day and RJ will collect it. It should be empty.
- After further discussion between administration, we decided that students will still clean the tables after lunch. Kathy J. will come into the cafeteria periodically to sweep. This allows Kathy J. time to work on items outside the cafeteria while classes are at lunch. Thank you for your help with this.
March Drills: Thank you for your participation in the Tornado drill. Fire and Lockdown drills will take place next week (March 13-17).
- PD will begin in the media center around 1:30.
- Our PD session will focus on Code of Conduct. Please sit with your grade level and/or assigned group.
- Bring something to write with.
The Mouse & the Motorcycle Read Aloud: Here are the first nine chapters of The Mouse & the Motorcycle. Feel free to show to your students at your leisure.
Shout-Outs: Shout-out to our Staff, PTA, Boosterthon Team, and our Families for another awesome Fun Run! 🏃
Important Items from Last Week
Pam Mason - LETRS: Teachers who are required to complete LETRS may sign up with Pam Mason for an additional half-day to work on their coursework. Please review the days that are available and get with Ms. Mason to schedule it. We hope this helps give you some extra time to complete this professional development. Here is Ms. Mason's schedule - Pam Mason's Schedule
Vending Machine Information: Beginning next week, students may pay $100 Paw Bucks to their teacher in exchange for a token to "purchase" a book from the vending machine. Tokens are located in the vault for safe keeping. Teachers are free to get tokens for any students that have paid their Paw Bucks. Just ask any office staff member and they can show you where the tokens are located in the vault. The machine is simple to use. Just insert the token, press the number of the book they want, and then hit enter. The book will then dispense. If you have any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to Mr. Elkins.
Teacher Intent Form: All certified staff members should have received an email from Human Resources to complete their intent to stay, or transfer, for next school year. Please make sure you complete this by March 15. If you have any questions about this form, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Arts Donation: CLICK HERE to make a gift by credit card, payroll deduction, cash or check. Thank you to anyone who is willing to make a donation to this great cause!
Panorama Survey: It's time for another Panorama survey window. The Spring Survey will be open March 1-15. Did we just do this? YES, Are we doing it again? YOU BET! This is how we get comparison data. It's like SEL progress monitoring. 🙂
Student survey - 3rd through 5th grade - Please have students complete the Survey anytime that works for your class the week of March 6-10. They will access the survey using the link below.
100% participation is expected from the district. We typically get in the high 90's with absences. The district prefers for each school to pick a day and time to do the survey but I feel what is best for our school is to allow teachers to work it into the class schedule in a way that works best for each individual class. I will track it as classes get it done and follow up to make sure everyone is counted. Thanks!
Staff Survey - You will get an email from Panorama Learning Team. Please complete the survey by our March 21 staff meeting. The other option is to complete it after the staff meeting.
Family Survey - The link is attached. I will add it to the school story, I will ask Deana to share it on FB. Please add to any newsletter or other communication that you use with your class. March 17 Talent Show and March 10 Fun Run will be great opportunities to get parent surveys completed. I will have QR codes up around the building. Please encourage parents to fill it out while they wait for the fun to begin! Thank you!
