Hey Panda Family,
"It's not where you work, its who you work with that makes a job worth going to everyday"
I completely agree with this quote. I look forward to coming to school every day because of each of you and all our students. I love working hard each week alongside you! Love y'all! Have a wonderful weekend. 🐼
Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates
Picnic Shelter: Here is the schedule for using the picnic shelter during lunch time - Picnic Shelter Lunch Schedule Each grade level has been assigned a day. There are two grade levels on each day, but their lunch times do not overlap. We are asking grade levels to create a system for determining which class will use the picnic shelter for lunch on their assigned day. There are two days for parents to be able to eat lunch with their child at the picnic shelter. I will share this with parents at a later date. Right now, I just want to get our grade levels in the routine of using it on their scheduled day. If you have any questions regarding the picnic shelter lunch schedule please don't hesitate to reach out. Thanks!
Halloween: Please remind your families that students should not wear their Halloween costume to school on Thursday, October 31. I will also be sending out communication to our families via Dojo.
November 5 PD Day (from district): Election Day, November 5, is also a district professional development day. Instructional Services, Talent Development, and Student Services will offer in-person, synchronous virtual, and asynchronous self-paced courses. See options available in the November 5 PD catalog and register in Kickup. Teleworking is not an option on this day.
Teacher Assistants do not work on November 5.
All certified staff must complete a minimum of four hours of professional development at your school or workshop location. If you cannot attend an in-person or synchronous virtual sessions, you have until December 3 to complete an asynchronous learning modules.
Enjoy this opportunity to strengthen and enhance your practice. Our continued learning will support the learning of our students. We thank you for your commitment to growth in WS/FCS!
If you were approved for leave to work at a voting site on election day, check in with your school principal or supervisor about making up the required training.
Code of Conduct Listening Session: All schools have been asked to participate in a Code of Conduct listening session with district office employees. In these sessions, two district office employees will ask staff a series of questions related to the Code of Conduct. They will take our feedback and share it with district leadership as they continue their work on the Code of Conduct. It is required that each school participates in this listening session. Our listening session is scheduled for Thursday, November 7 @ 3:30 in the Media Center. It should last roughly 30-45 minutes. I need 10-15 staff members that would be willing to volunteer to participate in this listening session. All staff are eligible to participate. If you are willing to fill one of these spots I would be greatly appreciative. If you are willing to attend and participate please add your name to this Google Doc - Code of Conduct Listening Session Sign-up Thank you!
Pointers from the Principal: Going forward in the Weekly Wrap I am going to give "pointers", or guidance, on random protocols or procedures that you may encounter so you know what to do when it occurs. I hope you will find these weekly tips and advice helpful.
- This week's pointer deals with subpoenas. A subpoena is an order to appear in court or provide documentation for court. Most subpoenas that we encounter are due to some sort of domestic issue that involves one of our students (custody, suspected child abuse, etc.). You could be subpoenaed to provide a written statement, testify in court, or it could just be a subpoena to the school for educational records. If you ever get subpoenaed, or contacted by a lawyer regarding one of your students, please let me know. We will provide a copy of the communication to our school district attorney and they will give us guidance and advice on next steps. Our school district attorney is amazing and will help make the process as simple and painless as they can. They are an amazing resource!
Elkins off Campus: I will be off campus on November 1 & November 4. Ms. Tiano will be here all day on both of these dates.
