Hey Panda Family,

Come join us for our Fall Festival tomorrow from 9:00 - 1:00 here at the school! It looks like it may rain, so we are planning to bring all the festivities inside! If you can't come, no worries, but we will certainly miss you! Thank you for your hard work this week and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! 🍂

New Updates

Picture Day: Picture Day is on Monday, September 29 in the Media Center. Here is a link to the schedule: Picture Day Schedule

Paw Forms: Please make sure you are entering your Paw Forms into Educator's Handbook each week. Our goal each year is that 100% of all teachers enter this data so we know exactly which students to support and how to best mitigate our behavior concerns.

Mr. Rick Davis (from SCC): Mr. Rick will be having emergency open heart surgery on Monday, September 29th. SCC discussed making him a gift basket from the Piney Grove Staff. RJ said he would deliver to Mr. Rick when he comes home from the hospital. We would like to have all contributions by Thursday, October 2nd. Please bring contributions to Ms. Youtz.

Gift basket ideas:
  • Cheerwine
  • Orange and Grape Crush

  • By the end of September, teachers should have contacted all parents with a positive Dojo message, email, or phone call

Week of 9/15 - 9/19

Hey Panda Family,

I'm so proud of y'all in how you have handled the past few weeks and how you have stepped up in so many ways. I meant what I said in this past week's meeting, everyone in this building has superb character traits that make you amazing people. I want great people, not just talented people. You are all definitely talented in your teaching abilities but your impeccable character is what makes you special and sets you apart. Each one of you has the whole package. You are both talented in your craft and you are amazing individuals. I am so thankful you are on my team! 🐼 And I am going to continue to work hard over the next few years to get all of our teammates back that I can!

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

PLTs: PLTs will start back next week for K-5 grades. Going forward, all PLTs will be during grade level specials/planning time. We will still meet in the PLT conference room. Here are the days PLTs will occur:
  • Mondays - 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade
  • Wednesdays - K, 1st, & 2nd grade

Building Reminders: Here are a few building reminders, and miscellaneous items, that we need your help with. Thanks!
  • If you notice the cafeteria music has not been playing while you are at lunch please check the cd player and see if the cd needs to be restarted. It may have just timed out.
  • Please do your best to stick with your scheduled times that have an impact school-wide (arriving/leaving lunch on time, recess, specials, etc.). I will be addressing reoccurring issues individually, but this is just a friendly reminder to everyone so we can operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Now that things are beginning to settle down and I adjust to the new normal, I will begin to be more frequent in classrooms. My goal is to get in 2-3 classrooms a day just to spend time with the kids and see what they are learning. Feel free to put me to work when I am in there if I can be of assistance!

Book Fair: Book Fair is next week. All classes will go to the book fair during their Media Specials next week. If you have any book fair questions please see Ms. Epperley.

Pumpkin Decorating: This year we are not doing a pumpkin decorating contest for the book fair. You are still more than welcome to decorate a pumpkin as a book character and donate it to the media center for decoration, but there will be no contest.

PBIS Updates: Next week is our PBIS Spirit Week. Each day's theme is what we encourage our Pandas to do. Here is the full list of the themes:
    • 22: Shine Bright (neon)
    • 23: Be an All-Star (sports)
    • 24: Model Out-of-this World Behavior (outer space, alien)
    • 25: Include Others (twin)
    • 26: Show Panda Pride

Each classroom teacher will receive a few stickers related to each day's theme. If you see a student who is exhibiting that day's encouraged behavior (through their actions, not just by dressing up) you can give them a sticker AND an extra Paw Buck or Dojo point. These can be students in your own class or a different class. (For Thursday there are two of each sticker so they can share with their "twin.")

Feel free to also give stickers to staff members showing these behaviors! There are a few extra stickers that will be in the workroom if you need them - just check because some are not necessarily kid-appropriate. Silly Amazon multi-packs.

We hope this is a fun way to reinforce positive behaviors! We hope all staff will participate, too. 🙂

Counseling Updates (from Ms. Ceglowski): Thank you all so much for participating in Start with Hello Week!  With all that we have going on, it really shows who we are to see our school community embrace the message so well.  Please send me any pictures you have of your students doing the activities through the week.  Thank you!  You guys are the best!!

I have already done classroom guidance with 19 classes!!  6 more have been scheduled!  I am grateful for the time to work on conflict (2-5) and respect (K-1).  I hope it's been helpful.  Please feel free to schedule another time if you would like to address something with your class through classroom guidance.  Just get the time scheduled and reach out to me about the topic.

If you would like to refer a student to me, please use this form. I will be notified that you made a referral through email.  Even if we already talked about it, please fill out the form to keep me honest!  Thanks!

Information for Elementary Grading: Please see the district grading updates below.
  • Standards Based Grading Dual Language Immersion (new K-2 course), Science, and Social Studies are missing standards that were not imported from DPI during our conversion. We are working on getting those standards from our Instructional Services department and imported into Infinite Campus. We will notify you when they are ready for your teachers to start adding assignments to those courses.
  • K-5 Grades - Behavior, Work Habits, Visual Arts, General Music, and Physical Education in Infinite Campus are “Post only” courses. This means that teachers will only enter a posted S, N, or U at the end of each term when the grading window opens to finalize term grades. No Assignments can be entered for those courses on the S, N, U grading scale. They will not have an “In-Progress Grade,” therefore the courses will not print on Progress Reports. Instructions for these courses are linked here:
