Week of 12/1 - 12/5

Hey Panda Family,

Let it rain, let it rain, let it rain 😂 I hope everyone is having a wonderful day off at home! Please make sure to congratulate Ms. Ceglowski, Ms. Howard, and Ms. Gant when you return to school on Monday. The three of them won Kernersville Chamber of Commerce grants yesterday! We have a busy two weeks before winter break kicks in. Please make sure to read all the updates below. Thanks for all you do! Have a wonderful weekend. 🐼

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

iReady Diagnostics: All K-5 classes will finish their iReady Math Diagnostic and begin working on their iReady Reading Diagnostic next week. Please have all diagnostics completed by December 17.

Winter Musical Program: Our 4th graders will be performing our winter program this Thursday, December 11 @ 8:45. All classes will attend. The evening performance will be @ 6:30.

HB 805: A new state law has been passed that now requires us to catalog our classroom libraries and provide these lists to parents if they ask. Here is the information principals received - House Bill 805. MTAC has shared some very easy steps to accomplish this task. I know this is not ideal, and somewhat of a hassle, but we have to do it (sorry). We will discuss it more in PLTs if you have questions. Here is a link to the directions if you want to go ahead and knock it out - Catalog Your Classroom Library. If you would like a volunteer to help catalog your classroom library for you please complete this form - Request for a Volunteer to help catalog. All cataloging must be completed by 2/2/2026.

Good Citizens (from Ms. Ceglowski): Please enter your Good Citizen for November if you haven't already. Here is the link to the document - Good Citizens. We will call all Good Citizens to the media center on Monday morning after the announcements.

December Drills: We will have a Fire drill and Secure drill this month. For the Secure Drill, anyone that is outside will come into the building. Otherwise, it is business as usual. We will hold the secure drill on December 9 @ 2:15. The Fire Drill will be held sometime next week, depending on the weather.

2nd Quarter Grades: The last day of second quarter is December 19. Report cards are due to Ms. True by the end of the day on January 2. Report cards will go home on January 9.

School Nurse: The school nurse that was assigned to our school, Rebecca Pearman, took another position outside of the school system. Our new nurse will be Jamie Sult. Ms. Sult is also one of our parents!

Gardner's Schedule: Mrs. Gardner will be at Piney Grove the following dates in December: 8th, 10th, 12th-PM, 15th, 17th, 19th-PM, 22nd.

PBIS Updates: Students will shop in the Paw Store on December 15 or 16 (see the Schedule for your time). The PBIS team cleaned out and organized the Paw Store in preparation for our students shopping on December 15 and 16. We are encouraging students to use their shopping trip to purchase holiday gifts for others. (There's still a two-item limit.) We could use more "big ticket" items if you have anything to donate from your own home. We also need bags for students to put their gift items in, if you have any to spare. Thank you!

Cards for Ms. Cathie: We would like to deliver some homemade student Christmas cards to Ms. Cathie, our former custodian, this holiday season. If you and your students would like to make cards for Ms. Cathie we know she would absolutely love them. Please deliver any cards to Mr. Elkins or Ms. Lawson by December 19. We will deliver them to Ms. Cathie before Christmas.

Mclass Progress Monitoring: Please make sure you are progress monitoring your students in Mclass. Here is the link to the progress monitoring calendar: Mclass Progress Monitoring Schedule. Next week is a Yellow week.

Shoutouts: Here are some shoutouts from this week!
  • From Ms. Rempe - This goes to Mr. Josh for returning our emergency bag left in cafeteria. Thank you so much!! This goes to Ms. Lindley's preschool having to sit so quietly for almost 30 minutes for Santa pictures! Ms. Medley is a tech guru in every way especially unfreezing a locked laptop!! Thank you!
  • From Ms. Seabourn - shout out to Ms. Medley for her tireless efforts in organizing our Santa Pix and taking cute pictures for all of our students!

Previous Updates

Hide iReady Diagnostics: If you would like to hide the diagnostics from your students until you are ready to test here are the instructions - Hide iReady Diagnostic

iReady Lessons: iReady lessons/pathways are also scheduled to open up on Monday, December 1. Students should not work on lessons more than 30-45 minutes per subject each week.

SCC Seasonal Gathering (from Ms. Mabe & Ms. Mathis): In lieu of our traditional holiday get-together in December, SCC has decided to organize a social event in January so that we can relax and enjoy it without the pressure of the holiday craze.  Please mark your calendar for Friday, January 16, 2026, to join us at Stock and Grain at 6:30 p.m. in High Point.  There will be live music that evening from 7-10 p.m.  There are various food options, a full bar if you would like to order something fun, and a coffee and dessert vendor.  We look forward to a fun, relaxing evening!  Significant others are welcome.  No children please.

Counseling Updates (from Ms. Ceglowski): Please use this link if you would like for me to meet with one of your students. Thank you for signing up for classroom guidance! This is a great opportunity to meet with teachers and students together to do some skill-building lessons that teachers can then reinforce when the opportunity arises.  I love when teachers join in and share their own experiences, it's powerful for the students! Please use the following link to book classroom guidance for 2nd quarter. Book time with Ceglowski, Jessica: Classroom Guidance - 2nd Quarter

Paw Form Consequences: Here is the list of acceptable and unacceptable classroom consequences if a student gets a Paw Form. We will continue to add to this list, and I will be communicating these changes to parents soon. Here is the list: Paw Form Consequences

PTA Reimbursement Link: Don't forget, every teacher gets $100 from PTA to go towards your classroom and your students. You will buy the items and then get reimbursed from PTA. Here are the links to submit your receipts for reimbursement. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Owens and she can help you. Here are the links:
