Hey Panda Family,
We are on the way home from Williamsburg! I hope everyone had a wonderful week :) Great job getting right back to work this week as we returned from spring break. Super proud of each of you as you work so well as a team to take care of our pandas! Keep up the great work as we finish the year strong!
Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:
New Updates
Boosterthon: Our annual Boosterthon fundraiser kicks off this upcoming week. One reason why we have so much success with our Boosterthon fundraiser is because of YOU! Y'all are always great cheerleaders for your class at the huddles, you engage with the Booster team leaders, and you help us communicate important dates and incentives to your families through Dojo. Thank you in advance for your help with this fundraiser again this year! Here are some important notes and dates for Boosterthon:

Absences: As always, we need all hands on deck for EOG testing at the end of the year. Because of this I will not be approving any absences from May 11 - May 26. If you are sick during these dates we will certainly work together to find you a sub, but this is for planned absences. If you have any questions or concerns please come see Mr. Elkins. Thanks!
PLTs: All grade levels will have PLTs next week.
Interpreter Presentation: Here is a copy of the Interpreter Presentation from this past week's staff meeting: Interpreter Presentation
Step Challenge (from the Wellness Committee): Please see the information below regarding our annual Staff Step Challenge Competition. There will be prizes!
- Starts March 16th (Monday); Ends March 26th (Thursday)
- Ms. Fox will send out an email with more details/rules.
- Here is the Google Sheets link to record your step count: STEP CHALLENGE SHEETS
- Reach out to Fox, Panico, Keller, Hobson, and/or Mitchell for any questions.
PBIS Sports Day: Sports Day is on Friday, April 17. The cost is 150 Paw Bucks. During Sports Day students from East Forsyth HS come play with our kiddos in a variety of sports stations and one drama station🙂(cheer/dance, flag football, relay races, softball/baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and theatre/drama). Each child will participate in two stations. K-1 stations will be from 12:00-12:45 and 2-5 stations will be from 1:15-2:20. (We will send out a modified lunch schedule later on.)
Instead of entering the number of students participating in Sports Day, you'll need to complete this Google Form (https://forms.gle/ft8Xj9m3H6mkLqdw6) for each child participating. They will choose three stations they're interested in so we can hopefully place them in two stations they want to participate in. (Please explain this to your students so they're not disappointed by not doing all three.)
We need all student info submitted through the Google Form by the afternoon April 2.
Baby Salimeno: Congratulations to Ms. Salimeno and her family on their beautiful addition, Miss Evie Wrenn!
Mclass Progress Monitoring: Progress monitoring should resume. Here is the link to the progress monitoring calendar: Mclass Progress Monitoring Schedule.
Shoutout: Huge shoutout to Ms. Lawson and her husband, Randy, for coming up to school on a weekend to clean up dead plants and pull weeds from our back courtyard! Thank you so much for this generous act of kindness to help make sure our campus looks and stays amazing!
Previous Updates
Go Far (from Ms. Fox): GoFar practices are every Monday and Wednesday starting March 16th until May 13th. Fox will be sending a list of participants through email for your dismissal sheets. Please send all participants to the track on those days. Please allow participants to refill water bottles and use the bathroom before letting them head to the track! Thanks!
Measles Presentation: Here is a copy of the Measles Presentation from the staff meeting in March: Measles Preparedness for School Staff
Ms. Gardner's Schedule: Here is Ms. Gardner's schedule for the month of March - Ms. Gardner's Schedule
Measles MMR: If you follow the news, you have probably seen there has been a measles outbreak in South Carolina. The district is preparing for if/when a case of measles presents itself in one of our schools. All principals are currently making a plan with their school nurse in conjunction with the Health Department. Here are some highlights, things to know, at this point:
- The MMR vaccine consists of two doses
- Any student that is not fully vaccinated will receive communication from our school nurse
- If there is an identified case of measles in our school then:
- Any student that has received one or two doses of the MMR vaccine can continue coming to school
- Any staff member that has received one or two doses of the MMR vaccine can continue working
- Any student that has received zero doses of the MMR vaccine must be excluded from school for 21 days
- Any staff member that has received zero doses of the MMR vaccine must be excluded from work for 21 days and take sick leave
- All staff members need to begin working on finding their childhood immunization records to prove they have received the MMR vaccine. Here are your options if you don't have your childhood records:
- If you graduated from a WS/FCS high school:
- email studentrecords@wsfcs.k12.nc.us
- send them your name (what it was), the high school you graduated from and the year, a picture of your staff ID badge, and a request for records
- they will email you your immunization records
- You can get another MMR vaccine to be sure
- Multiple MMR vaccines will not hurt you
- You can get a titer test for MMR to see if you have had the vaccine
As I receive more information I will certainly keep you informed. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Paw Form Consequences: Here is the list of acceptable and unacceptable classroom consequences if a student gets a Paw Form. We will continue to add to this list, and I will be communicating these changes to parents soon. Here is the list: Paw Form Consequences
