Previous Updates

Chromebook Update Needed (from Ms. Guffey): The State is requiring all districts to update the NCTest Chrome app.  The update is being pushed out this week.  Before administering your next NC Check-In, EOG, or EOC assessment, please allow the Chromebooks extra time to update.  Ask students to open the Chromebooks so they can update.  Open Chromebooks on carts (if you have extras) to allow them to update.  When updated, the app will be labeled as North Carolina Testing System. If you still see NCTest app, reboot the Chromebook a couple of times to push an update. Reach out if you have any questions.

Education Foundation Grant: The Education Foundation for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools invites applications for grants several times a year. These grants help teachers fund innovative classroom initiatives with new materials and enrichment opportunities. The current grant cycle is open until March 15. Winners can receive up to $1,500! See below for the grant information:

Ms. Gardner's Schedule: Here is Ms. Gardner's schedule for the month of March - Ms. Gardner's Schedule

Measles MMR: If you follow the news, you have probably seen there has been a measles outbreak in South Carolina. The district is preparing for if/when a case of measles presents itself in one of our schools. All principals are currently making a plan with their school nurse in conjunction with the Health Department. Here are some highlights, things to know, at this point:
  • The MMR vaccine consists of two doses
  • Any student that is not fully vaccinated will receive communication from our school nurse
  • If there is an identified case of measles in our school then:
  • Any student that has received one or two doses of the MMR vaccine can continue coming to school
  • Any staff member that has received one or two doses of the MMR vaccine can continue working
  • Any student that has received zero doses of the MMR vaccine must be excluded from school for 21 days
  • Any staff member that has received zero doses of the MMR vaccine must be excluded from work for 21 days and take sick leave
  • All staff members need to begin working on finding their childhood immunization records to prove they have received the MMR vaccine. Here are your options if you don't have your childhood records:
  • If you graduated from a WS/FCS high school:
    • email studentrecords@wsfcs.k12.nc.us
    • send them your name (what it was), the high school you graduated from and the year, a picture of your staff ID badge, and a request for records
    • they will email you your immunization records
  • You can get another MMR vaccine to be sure
    • Multiple MMR vaccines will not hurt you
  • You can get a titer test for MMR to see if you have had the vaccine
As I receive more information I will certainly keep you informed. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Paw Form Consequences: Here is the list of acceptable and unacceptable classroom consequences if a student gets a Paw Form. We will continue to add to this list, and I will be communicating these changes to parents soon. Here is the list: Paw Form Consequences

PTA Reimbursement Link: Don't forget, every teacher gets $100 from PTA to go towards your classroom and your students. You will buy the items and then get reimbursed from PTA. Here are the links to submit your receipts for reimbursement. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Owens and she can help you. Here are the links:
