Week of May 6 - 10

Hey Panda Family,

19 days left for this school year! A mother is not defined by the number of children you have, but how she takes care of those around her. A mother is someone who sacrifices her personal well-being to better her family (or classroom). A mother is patient, forgiving, understanding, and humble. A mother is a mom, aunt, grandmother, godmother, teacher, and caretaker. Thank you to all of you for taking care of our children and the love you show them each day. Happy Mother's Day! 💚

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

iReady Math Diagnostic: Next week all classes will complete the Math iReady Diagnostic. The last day for all iReady testing is May 17. After your diagnostics are complete, iReady weekly lessons are no longer required.

PLTs: All grade levels will have PLTs next week. We will be reviewing and closing out Tier 2 MTSS plans. Please bring your computer and necessary data.

Graduation Walk: In order to accommodate both Atkins HS and East Forsyth HS we are having two graduation walks this year. One on May 15 @ 9:30 and the other on May 23 @ 9:30. On these days we will get on the announcements and play the graduation music while the high school graduates walk the halls. Please join us on these days and times by lining your students in the halls to celebrate these graduates!

Ms. Hayes Memorial: Margaret Hayes worked at Piney Grove for many years as our PE teacher. She even helped groom and mentor the wonderful Ms. Fox 😊 Ms. Hayes lost her battle with cancer a few years ago and the PGE Retirees raised money for a simple memorial in her honor. Ms. Hayes loved to hike, so we have a plaque to present in her honor at the nature trail (by the picnic shelter). We are going to unveil this plaque next Friday, May 17 @ 7:45 out by the nature trail. I know it is early, and I know it is Field Day. We wanted Ms. Hayes' husband and daughter to attend and this is the only date we were able to make it work. The presentation shouldn't last more than 10 minutes for anyone who would like to join us. You will have plenty of time to make it back to your class by 8:05. I want to give a huge shoutout to Ms. Brookshire for being the school lead on this project. She has done a tremendous job making this all come to fruition.

PBIS Updates: Please see the PBIS updates listed below.

  • We have canceled "Anything but a backpack" due to testing on June 3rd
  • Paw Store - June 4 and 5.  See the schedule here - Paw Store Schedule

Send All Car Riders: Please do us a favor and remind your students to go straight to car riders when we make the announcement to "send all car riders". Thank you for your help with this and your help with making sure they leave when this announcement is made each day.

Progress Reports: This is just a friendly reminder to please stay up to date on entering your grades for 4th Quarter. As things get busy, this task can easily get put to the side. Please make sure this doesn't happen so you don't find yourself having to enter a ton of grades at the end of the quarter.

Greensboro Science Center: Please see the Teacher Appreciation flier below from the Greensboro Science Center.

Bridal Shower for Ms. Lovell: We hope you can join us to celebrate Ms. Lovell's wedding engagement on May 15! See the graphic below for full details. Kirsten and Jordan are registered on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/wedding/share/CallieJordan

Doris Day (from the Office Staff): May 17th, in addition to being Field Day, is also Mrs. Murray's 80th birthdayComing up with something to do for her on that day is the last thing you want to do, so it would be nice to have your individual kids or your whole class together think of something to do for her to show her how much we love her and appreciate ALL that she does for us each and every day. Thank you in advance for your help!

Campus Cleanup Documents (from Ms. Peickert): Thank you for your grade level help with keeping our campus clean. Please see the links below to review the campus cleanup map and help guide. Thank you!

Blocked Days: We will need all hands on deck for testing from May 28 - June 7. Please understand I will not be approving any leave for these days. Please refrain from scheduling any appointments or personal days during this time frame. If you become ill during this time we will definitely work around this, but we want to avoid any preplanned absences during testing. Thanks for understanding.

IEP Minutes Document: Updated document includes suggested verbs and phrases from the training we had in November.

  • Please delete verbs and suggested phrases from the document at the end of the meeting.
