Week of 9/29 - 10/3

Hey Panda Family,

Can you believe it - we only have one more week and the 1st Quarter will be complete! I think I can speak for all of us that it has definitely been a little bit of a rollercoaster ride to start the year with all the district challenges. I have to brag on y'all though - individuals who have been forced to take on additional responsibilities have done it with no complaints, some of our employees that have been impacted have stepped up into sub roles and are doing amazing, we had to EXPLORE schedule changes in some areas and everyone has handled those so professionally, and most importantly you continue to bring your best each day for our students. I appreciate y'all more than you know and you make me so proud. Have a wonderful weekend! 🍂

Life is an adventure for those who have the courage to explore.

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

PTA Meeting Date Change: The PTA meeting for this month has been changed to Monday, October 6 @ 6:00.

Emergency Sub Plans: Please make sure you have emergency sub plans ready for if/when you have something unexpected come up and need to be out. These plans should be easily accessible and please don't incorporate lots of technology. In these emergency situations it is best to have something simple prepared that anyone can step in and help with. Thanks!

October 13 RT Workday: Several staff members have asked me if working remotely from home will be allowed this year on RT workdays. At this point, I don't know. I am waiting on guidance from Human Resources. I will let you know as soon as I hear something so you can prepare accordingly.

October 14 PD Day: October 14 is a district PD day. Here is the catalog so you can sign up for a session: October 14 PD Sessions. If you are a K-5 teacher, please discuss what sessions you will be attending so we can ensure we have participants at all core subject sessions. Most sessions are asynchronous.

Grades in Infinite Campus: Please make sure you are entering your grades in Infinite Campus and keeping them up to date. I haven't figured out a quick method to oversee this from my end yet, so until then please help keep yourself accountable. At the end of the quarter, we will be printing report cards and sending them home in the report card envelopes just like we always have. Report cards are due to Ms. True by 3:00 on October 13.

Counseling Updates (from Ms. Ceglowski): Things are getting much busier in the counselor's office these days!  Please try to use this form to refer a student to me.  It just keeps me honest and organized.  I typically use a calendar invite to create time to meet with referred students. Circle Keepers are nearly finished their training, and we will start accepting referrals soon.  Stay tuned for details!

Library Lock-In (from PBIS): Our first paid PBIS event, the Library Lock-in, is on Friday, October 17. The cost is 75 Paw Bucks. Students should pay their teachers and teachers should enter their class amount participating NO LATER THAN October 9 here: Library Lock-In

During the Library Lock-in students will have their option of different activities including LEGO, bracelet making, reading, and more! Here is the schedule for the day:
    • 8:30-9:00 2/3
    • 9:05-9:35 K/1
    • 9:40-10:10 4/5

Please reach out to your PBIS rep if you have any questions.

Ms. Gardner's Schedule: Ms. Gardner will be at Piney Grove the following dates in October:
  • Oct. 6th, 8th, 15th, 20th, 24th, 27th, 29th, 31st

Shout-outs & Good News: Please see the shout-outs and good news listed below.
  • From Ms. Rempe - thank you to Ms. Peickert for completing our caterpillar setup for 2nd grade!
  • Shoutout to Ms. Guffey, the 2nd grade teachers, and all other test administrators for helping us have a successful CogAt testing session this week!

Previous Updates

Paw Forms: Please make sure you are entering your Paw Forms into Educator's Handbook each week. Our goal each year is that 100% of all teachers enter this data so we know exactly which students to support and how to best mitigate our behavior concerns.

Mclass Progress Monitoring: Please make sure you are progress monitoring your students in Mclass. Here is the link to the progress monitoring calendar: Mclass Progress Monitoring Schedule

SchoolNet Update: Please enable the text to speech feature on all SchoolNet assessments except for ELA assessments. This feature is available on End of Grade and End of Course assessments and should be made available on classroom assessments as well.

Positive Phone Calls/Messages: This is just a friendly reminder to turn in/share your positive communication log with me as soon as possible. Thank you to those who have already completed this. Here is a reminder of the bullet points from the opening staff meeting.

  • By the end of September, teachers should have contacted all parents with a positive Dojo message, email, or phone call

  • If parent does not respond, try another form of communication (phone call, email)

  • Turn in log by 9/26/2025

  • All students should receive a Pandagram home during the 1st quarter

Education Grants: Please make sure to take advantage of these local education grants. They are due soon!

Spanish Interpretation Support: A Spanish interpretation support line is now available for three-way calls to assist families while they visit your school. Please stay on the line with the caller while the interpreter joins. Note: the interpreter will only interpret, not answer specific questions. Staying connected ensures clear and accurate communication and that the family receives the correct support.

Dedicated phone line: 336-727-8398

Remember that requesting interpretation or translation services remains the same. Use the links below to submit your request in advance. Services are scheduled in the order they are received.
