Week of April 6 - 10

Hey Panda Family,

Only 31 days left in this school year. I know your countdown to the end of the year will start soon - if it hasn't already (Lol)! One of my former supervisors would say, "Make the days count, while counting down the days". Time is one of the few things you can't make more of and you can't get back. Take advantage of every moment from now until the end of the year to make lasting memories and maximize instruction. Thanks for all you do and I hope you have a great weekend! 🐼

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

Allotment 2026-2027 Update: I plan to give a detailed allotment update to our School Improvement Team in our monthly meeting next week. At this time, I do not foresee us hiring any additional positions for next school year, but we are able to keep everyone that is on staff currently in some capacity. Your SIT representative will be able to share any of the details with you after our meeting. Although there will be some grade level changes for next year, none of those decisions will be made or shared until the end of the school year. The purpose of our allotment discussion in SIT is to go over numbers and to let the team know of some general school-wide changes.

iReady Math EOY Diagnostic: All K-5 classes will complete the Math iReady Diagnostic next week. It must be completed by April 17.

PTA Reimbursements: This past week I sent out an email with an updated spreadsheet from PTA with the totals that have been spent for your classroom allocations. If you plan to use your allocated money from PTA this year it must be spent with receipts turned in by May 1. Please see the email from Mr. Elkins with the full details.

Fire Drill: We will have our monthly fire drill on Thursday, April 16 @ 2:20.

PBIS Sports Day: We have about half of our students attending Sports Day and it's an all hands-on deck day! Please read through the following document to see any schedule changes and the staff that will be needed to help provide coverage: PBIS Sports Day

We will finalize station assignments this week. Next Friday, you will have labels for each of your participating students. This will let them know the first and second stations they are going to. Please make sure they wear those to Sports Day. (Don't worry, we'll have printed lists, too, because at least one kid WILL lose their label.) A staff member will pick up students to escort them to their first station and bring them back in after their second station. Please don't send children directly outside for Sports Day. Let's all hope for good weather next Friday because there is no rain plan or makeup date. If we have to cancel due to inclement weather then you'll need to "refund" those Paw Bucks to your students. Reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for your help in making this a fun day!

Mclass Progress Monitoring: Here is the link to the progress monitoring calendar: Mclass Progress Monitoring Schedule.

Shoutout: From Ms. Corlett - Shoutout to Ms. Guffey for helping me with computer testing issues and always having kind patience with me.

Previous Updates

EOG Information (from Ms. Guffey): I cannot believe that it is already time to talk about EOGs, but I wanted to share some important information. The EOG window is May 12 - May 26 and we will most likely have testing during all of those days. Everyone will get trained because we will need all hands-on deck. There is a high likelihood that we will need K-2 teachers to assist with testing.

EOG test training will take place during PLT time:
April 20 8:30, 9:20, 12:05, 1:45, and 3:30
April 22 10:10, 11:00, and 12:55
Please plan to attend one of the above sessions.

Testing Code of Ethics and Proctor training will be held during the staff meeting on April 21.

We will have retesting this year. Remediation is not required. Parent permission will be required. 3-5 students who score Not Proficient will complete the Retake. 3rd Grade students who score Not Proficient on Reading will take the Read to Achieve in place of the reading retake. If the retest score is higher than the initial score it will be used for achievement calculations and growth analyses.

Testing schedule:
May 12 - Reading EOG (3-5)
May 13 - Reading EOG make-ups
May 14 - Math EOG (3-5)
May 15 - Math EOG make-ups
May 18 Science EOG (5th grade)
              Read to Achieve (3rd grade)
              EOG Reading Retest (4th grade)
May 19 EOG Reading Retest (5th grade)
              Science EOG make-ups
May 21 EOG Math Retest (3-5)
May 22 EOG Science Retest (5th grade)

All materials on walls, cabinets, etc. must be removed or covered by May 1.

Grade 3-5 homeroom teachers will need to review the online tutorial and turn in a roster (which I will provide) with the day (dates) you completed the tutorial with your signature by May 1. If a student enrolls after you do the tutorial, you must complete it with them so we can add their name to our documentation.

Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns.

Thank you for your continued support, understanding, and flexibility.

NC Edcloud MFA (from district): This message is applicable to all users that currently use NCEDCloud to access Tyler ERP and/or homebase applications such as Infinite Campus, Schoolnet, NCEES, Canvas, ECATS, etc.

As a reminder, take a moment to read through the official TECH ANNOUNCEMENT – MFA ENFORCEMENT FOR NCEDCLOUD for detailed information including our upcoming schedule for implementation. One important note, the announcement contains directions for MFA setup. Please do not scan the QR code with your photo app. You must scan the QR code with one of the supported authentication applications.

Thank you for your understanding and participation in this implementation.

4th Quarter Guidance (from Ms. Ceglowski): I'd love to come to see your class one last time!  Please book using the link and then shoot me an email to let me know if you have topic you would like me to address instead of my planned lesson. I plan to focus on test taking preparation and test anxiety with 3-5. The focus for k-2 will be coping skills (to get us to the finish line!) You can absolutely sign up for more than one lesson for your class if you wish.

Paw Form Consequences: Here is the list of acceptable and unacceptable classroom consequences if a student gets a Paw Form. We will continue to add to this list, and I will be communicating these changes to parents soon. Here is the list: Paw Form Consequences

PTA Reimbursement Link: Don't forget, every teacher gets $100 from PTA to go towards your classroom and your students. You will buy the items and then get reimbursed from PTA. Here are the links to submit your receipts for reimbursement. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Owens and she can help you. Here are the links:
