Hey Panda Family,
It is one of my favorite times of the year - the beginning of football season! Each team has worked hard and endured long practices to prepare for gameday 🏈 Throughout each team's season there will be ups and downs. Times you cheer and times you're upset. At the end of the season each team gives it their best effort and tries to come out on top. The school year is a lot like a football season (or any sport season for that matter). We practice all year long to be ready for "gameday" at the end of the year. There are great days of practice along the way and then there are other days when you are left wondering if your team (your students) are even interested in playing anymore. Through the ups and downs you don't give up though and at the end of the year you hope all your hard work turns into a win for you and your students. Each of you are an amazing coach for your team of students! And I am so lucky that you are on my team. Our season is off to a great start and I can't wait to celebrate all the wins we will have this year!🐼
Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

Ashley Sturgill: Please join me in welcoming our new 4th Grade Teacher, Mrs. Ashley Sturgill, to Piney Grove! Mrs. Sturgill is coming to us via the district surplus process to fill the additional teaching allotment we received from Human Resources. Mrs. Sturgill was previously at Caleb's Creek Elementary, where Mrs. Gardner got to know her last year during her time there. Mrs. Sturgill volunteered to be surplussed so she could come join our panda family! She brings a wealth of upper grades experience and she has such a welcoming personality. She is going to be an amazing addition to our school family! Welcome, Mrs. Sturgill!
PTA Meeting: Our first PTA meeting of the year is this Tuesday, September 15 @ 7:00. We need to have at least 1-2 teacher reps from our PTA committee attend. Thank you!
PBIS Updates: We are so excited about our events we've planned for this year! Here is a printable schedule you can hang in your classroom: PBIS Events Calendar. Here is a smaller version you can pass out to your students: PBIS Event Student Calendar. Details about our first event, Panda Chef, and our video you can share to promote all events will be coming later this month. Please reach out to your grade level/team PBIS rep if you have any questions.
Mclass Progress Monitoring Calendar: BOY testing is now over for Mclass. Please make sure you follow the progress monitoring calendar to gauge your student's progress throughout the school year. Here is the calendar:

Hello Week (from Mrs. Ceglowski): Start With Hello Week is September 21-25. This year, we will be distributing Gold Hearts from Whip Pediatric Cancer Center for students to decorate. This will be easy, I promise!
Take the hearts that I will put in your mailbox back to class
Have students decorate the hearts with messages of encouragement to kids receiving cancer treatment on Monday, September 21.
Give the decorated hearts to Mrs. Ceglowski.
I'll be sharing information about the program on Class DOJO and parents will have the option to make a donation if they wish. That donation goes straight to the organization.
We do not collect any money. I have attached a suggested lesson plan that you can use if you wish. Here it is -
Heart of Gold Lesson. It's a very simple message that you are never too young to help make a difference. The hearts are decorated with messages of encouragement to children fighting cancer. Make sure they say "Hello" and put their name on their heart! Thanks!!!
* Hudson Edwards is in Kindergarten this year at PGE with Mrs. Panico and Mrs. Seely. The Edwards family has brought this program to us. They wish to thank the Whip Pediatric Cancer Center for all they did for Hudson while he battled cancer. Thank you for helping them return the love!

Previous Updates
Skye Therapy Dog (from Ms. Ceglowski): We are getting a visit from Skye, our district's therapy dog, on September 18th from 9AM to 11AM.
For this first visit, we are going to make this a treat for the staff only. Skye is an excellent listener and gives the best cuddles. She is very intuitive and can tell who needs her most and gets to work being adorable! We'd like everyone to get a chance to spend about 10-15 minutes with her. I know that some will need help with coverage because you don't have lunch, recess, or specials between 9-11AM. Please indicate in the form if you need coverage and I'll make a plan. Click
HERE for the interest and coverage request form.
Also please indicate on the form and/or reach out to me if you are afraid of dogs or have an allergy and we will make a plan for that as well.

Gradebook Guru PowerPoint: Here is the PowerPoint from district office providing gradebook support if you need it. You must be logged into your WSFCS account to view. Here is the link:

Pandagrams: Just a friendly reminder that all students should receive a Pandagram before the end of the quarter. Thank you to everyone who has already begun their positive communication home to start the year!
Picture of Students (Homeroom Teachers): I would like an individual picture of each of your students for the PLT room. Please have them developed and turn in a class set to Mr. Elkins. You can give Ms. Owens your receipt and she will reimburse you. Thank you!
Test Training (all staff): All staff will need to complete test training for the 2026-2027 school year by September 25 except for third grade, Pereda, and Landis. Please print the certificates when done and give them to Ms. Gardner.
Guidance Updates (from Ms. Ceglowski): Please see the updates below from Ms. Ceglowski.
