Hey Panda Family,
Only one more week left in 1st Quarter! I can't believe it has gone by so fast. Thank you for your dedication and hard work. Lots of important end of quarter items in the Weekly Wrap below. Have a wonderful weekend!
Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:
New Updates
End of 1st Quarter: Next Friday, October 9, is the last day of the quarter. Please make sure your grades are updated in Infinite Campus. I will be completing a gradebook check early next week.
Report Cards: I know the district wants us to move more towards digital (which I am fine with for progress reports during the quarter), but I still want to send home paper report cards at the end of the quarter for our students. I think it is very important that they see their grades on paper (especially our older students), they have a written comment from me or Gardner, and they have something to put on their refrigerator to celebrate their progress. Your report cards are due to Ms. True by the end of the day on October 13. We will print report cards for all students and they will go home on October 23 in Friday Folders in the report card envelopes.
Earthquake Drill: We will have our mandatory earthquake drill on Monday @ 2:30. Mrs. Gardner will get on the announcements and talk all students through the drill. Students need to take cover under a table/desk/chair, hold on to the legs, and make sure their head/body is protected.
Check-In Testing: We will have Check-In testing next week. Please see the details below.
- Tuesday (October 6) - 5th grade Math - See plan here
- Thursday (October 8) - 3rd & 4th Math and 5th grade Science - See plan here
CogAt testing 2nd Grade (from Ms. Guffey): We will have CogAt testing next week. See the information and testing plans below.
- CogAt testing on Monday, 10/5, Tuesday, 10/6, and Thursday, 10/8.
- The students who are not testing will be in 1st grade classes during testing.
- Wednesday, 10/8, a small group of 4th graders will be AG testing in room 217.
MTSS Plans: Thank you for being focused this week during PLTs as we entered MTSS Tier 2 plans. We will work on Tier 3 plans October 14 and 16. More details to come.

I will send out more details next week for those that choose to telework.

Previous Updates
Positive Communication Log: Please make sure you share your Positive Communication Log with me before the end of the quarter. Remember, all students should receive at least one Pandagram by the end of 1st Quarter. Fill that parent bucket with positive messages, so when you do have to reach out because the student made a poor choice it isn't the first time the parent is hearing from you. Thanks!
PBIS Presentation: The PBIS Committee has created a quick presentation for you to share with your class in lieu of the PBIS assembly that we decided to cancel this year. Please review this presentation with your class next week. It goes over the PBIS events for the year and the possible consequences if students make poor choices. Here is the presentation: PBIS Presentation
Please take some time during your day to review it with your students. For most of the presentation you'll talk through the points. Here are a few ideas and/or reminders:
- Review any specific issues your class has been having when you discuss PAWS Laws
- 3 checks on a Paw Form in a week requires a Dojo message or phone call (preferred method) to parent
- We'll send specific information about each spirit week's dress up days, but for October:
- Oct. 26: Panda Pride (wear panda gear)
- Oct. 27: Lettuce Celebrate Good Behavior (salad dressing day - examples include RANCHer, FRENCHman, thousand ISLAND shirt)
- Oct. 28: Inside Out Day (wear all same color)
- Oct. 29: Walk with Kindness (crazy socks)
- Oct. 30: Book Character Day
- The date(s) and movie for our April event are still TBD.
- Explain that students won't be able to do every event. Help them understand budgeting and saving.
- Some teachers use crossed fingers for restroom, others use ASL for toilet (make t with thumb between pointer and middle fingers, rotate wrist)
- Give Me Five can be done by saying the phrase or simply raising your hand
Nurse Carolyn: Nurse Carolyn Green will be our new school nurse. She will be here on Tuesdays & Thursdays each week. Please welcome her to our school! Here is her contact information:
