Week of December 4 - 8

Hey Panda Family,

What a fun-filled week of music, field trips, grant winners, and holiday spirit! You can feel the exciting energy in the air 😀 Soak in the fun next week as you have your holiday parties and activities. Enjoy every moment with your kids!

Here are the Weekly Wrap updates for this week:

New Updates

Teleworking Agreement (Certified Staff Only): In order for Certified Staff to work virtually from home on the RT workdays, you need to complete the district Teleworking Agreement Form. I have placed a Teleworking Agreement Form in each Certified Staff members box. Please complete the highlighted areas of the form and return it signed to Mr. Elkins' box. This needs to be completed before the RT workdays on December 18-20.

PLTs Next Week: There will be no PLTs next week and no PLT coverage. Everyone gets the week off before break 😊

Core Award Nominations: It is time to nominate for the 2023-2024 Piney Grove Core Awards.  There are four awards:
  • Teacher of the Year

  • Classified Employee of the Year

  • Certified Instructional Support Person of the Year

  • Volunteer of the Year

Please use the links below to nominate individuals for these awards.  There are explanations listed on each Google Form.  We will have nominations open until December 15th at 4:00pm.  There will be voting links for each position when we return in January.  Please see Mrs. Jessica Bowman or Mrs. Catherine Gant if you have any questions.

Goldie Reading Program: Now that just about every student has met Goldie, the Golden Retriever,  we are going to start a reading program with her.  Studies show that reading to a therapy dog increases confidence in struggling readers.  If you have a student who seems to be lacking confidence or seems to be ready to give up on reading, please add them to this form to get a time slot reading to Goldie weekly.   https://forms.gle/q4FmLHNJvAj9CZBLA

iReady Lesson Prizes: Outside of the Media Center is our iReady Lesson Tracker bulletin board. When a grade level hits 2,000 completed lessons in both Reading and Math they will earn their first grade level prize. Please talk this up with your students to motivate them.

Panda Family Bingo: Thank you for distributing the Panda Family Bingo cards in the Friday Folders. If you need any additional cards please see Ms. Ceglowski. When a student returns a completed Bingo Card please place it in Ms. Ceglowski's box.

MTSS: Thank you SO much to Ms. Kathy Pierce for filling in for us during Ms. Balint's maternity leave. You did an amazing job! Please join me in welcoming Ms. Balint back on Monday.

Shout-outs: Congratulations to our Kernersville Chamber Grant winners: Ms. Rinfrette, Ms. Panico, Ms. Musten, and Ms. Barnes!

Updates from Previous Week

Staff Absences: If you have a sudden absence (wake up sick, family emergency, etc.) that is not scheduled please make sure you text Mr. Elkins & Ms. Owens. We work together on all our absences so letting us both know at the same time will really help us be able to help you. Thank you!

You can use the staff workroom or the room at the back of the library for a quiet space. Please review the open dates on Ms. Mason's schedule here - Pam Mason 2023-2024.
